OMAHA, NE / AGILITYPR.NEWS / March 18, 2020 / Deal looks to expand Kubat’s model and operations into rural areas.
Percipio Partners LLC, an Omaha-based investing and management consulting firm, announced that it is entering into a strategic partnership with Kubat Pharmacy, a third-generation family-owned independent pharmacy with three locations in the Omaha metro. The partnership will give Percipio Partners a platform to take Kubat Pharmacy’s success and expand it beyond Omaha.
Kubat Pharmacy was founded in 1932 by Amil Kubat. It has most recently been owned and operated by Amil’s grandsons, Matthew Kubat and Michael Kubat, who took over responsibility for the business from their father Rich Kubat. Under three generations of leadership, Kubat Pharmacy has expanded beyond retail prescription drug sales and custom compounding to offer home medical, respiratory and rehabilitation equipment.
In partnering, there will be no visible change to the operation of Kubat Pharmacy. As it has been for three generations, Kubat will continue to be a family operated business; Matthew and Michael Kubat remain as operators, with the business retaining its name. All three Omaha metro locations will continue to operate as normal.
This merger with Kubat Pharmacy fits into Percipio Partners’ strategy to partner with and strengthen additional independent pharmacies in rural areas. Percipio Partners will look to focus in the future on communities overlooked by larger pharmacy chains, serving smaller demographics and those with long-term care and assisted living facilities.
The management team for Percipio Partners’ merger with Kubat comprises Jim Rich (CEO, Percipio Partners), Matt Pickens, J.D. (VP Strategy, Percipio Partners) and Steve Bullock, Ph.D. (COO, OBRXA). Following Kubat Pharmacy’s successful business model, this team hopes to be able to expand the services offered by any additional pharmacies it partners with and help ensure a strong relationship between the pharmacies and the rural communities they serve.
“Large pharmacy chains have been consolidating pharmacy locations in recent years, but that activity has focused on larger markets,” said Jim Rich, founder and CEO of Percipio Partners. “We believe by partnering with Kubat, we can bring its successful model to independent pharmacies in rural areas that the national chains have stayed out of. Our goal is to collaboratively partner with other healthcare institutions and bring new services to these underserved rural communities.”
