Iconic Design in Neomint – the P’8478 “Color of the Year”
Combine functional design with high-quality materials: this mission statement has accompanied Porsche Design for more than 40 years. In 1978, a true classic was born with the world’s first sunglasses featuring replaceable lenses: the exclusive P’8478. The unmistakeable lens shape, characteristic nose bridge, and revolutionary replaceable lens mechanism make the titanium P'8478 an instantly recognizable, timeless accessory. In 2019, the exclusive lifestyle brand is presenting “Neomint”, a color version limited to 2000 pieces worldwide. The refreshing Neomint is a trend color of 2019 and brings science and technology into harmony with nature. The lens holders, as well as nose bridge, make the P'8478 “color of the year” into a true collector’s item for a suggested retail price of $750.
Cutting Edge Cool – the P‘8664 “Glued Visor”
Make a statement without saying a word. The bold P’8668 took four years to develop. The shield is precisely glued to the frame by a 6-axle robot, using a high-tech elastic adhesive. The process was inspired by the production step used to affix the windscreen to Porsche 911. The flexible nose pads and end tips – made of slip-resistant elastomer –easily adjust to the wearer, ensuring a firm hold and excellent comfort, even for recreational sports. The “Glued Visor” is available in April 2019 for a suggested retail price of $1,150 in Porsche Design Stores and online at www.porsche-design.com.
Less Material, More Stability – the RX P'8355 Aviator
The top-selling aviator is also now available as a corrective frame. The P‘8355 Aviator RX makes a fashion statement, but still prevails through its purist silhouette. True to the motto of “less is more”, the bionic design ensures they are light as a feather through using ultra-light titanium. The sides and front were designed according to bionic principles; hence, they are stable and simultaneously material saving and flexible. They resemble the structures in the physical build; materials are used only where necessary. They are currently available in four colors and two sizes for a suggested retail price of $450 at select opticians.
