Professional Development Remains Important Even During Lockdown, Governance Body Says

ISLE OF MAN / AGILITYPR.NEWS / June 04, 2020 / The Chartered Governance Institute has today underlined the importance of continuing professional development during the COVID-19 pandemic with the announcement of a virtual training event for trust and corporate service providers which will take place later this month.

Speaking about the importance of staying up to date with industry news and professional development, Chris Bolt, chair of the Institute’s Isle of Man branch says:

“Coronavirus might have forced most people to work from home, but it hasn’t reduced the need for people to continue their professional development or to think about what the new normal might mean for their industry. This is why we have continued to hold CPD events in online format for our members and the wider business community as good governance fulfils a vital role in steadying the ship in times of crisis. Many companies in the Isle of Man are calling on the expertise of our members to get them through this difficult time so it is essential that they are thinking about what the future might hold.”

A free webinar looking at what the new normal holds for trust and corporate service providers will take place on 17 June from 12.30-13.30. Craig Brown, Managing Director at IQ EQ (Isle of Man) Limited, one of the island's leading trust and corporate services providers, will be the presenter.

Craig, who joined IQ EQ in early 2013, is also the ACSP's representative on the board of the Isle of Man Finance Agency. Originally from the North West of England, Craig obtained a Masters degree in Engineering from Cambridge University. He subsequently left engineering to join the accounting profession with Arthur Andersen, and is a Fellow of the ICAEW and a Chartered Tax Advisor. After qualifying, he spent many years as head of tax of several multinational organisations, operating in sectors as diverse as the oil industry, FMCG, telecommunications and the retail sector.

Craig moved to the Isle of Man to take up a role in the fiduciary sector in 2008, and since then he has held senior roles within several Trust & Corporate Service Providers. He has been MD of IQ EQ (Isle of Man) Limited since 2016.
