RCRC Expands Governmental Affairs Team

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) announced today the hiring of John Kennedy as Legislative Advocate, and Leigh Kammerich as Regulatory Affairs Specialist. Kennedy and Kammerich will join RCRC’s existing Governmental Affairs team in advocating on behalf of RCRC’s 36 member counties. Kennedy’s portfolio includes legislative advocacy on a number of natural resources issues and economic development, and Kammerich has joined RCRC to assist with the extensive advocacy work RCRC undertakes in a variety of state and federal agencies.

“We’re pleased to welcome John and Leigh to the RCRC team,” said Greg Norton, RCRC President and CEO. “Their background and experience will serve as a valuable resource, and their joining our team helps RCRC provide a full-service legislative and regulatory affairs program to our members.”

Prior to joining RCRC, Kennedy served as Chief Consultant for the California State Assembly Republican Caucus Office of Policy and Budget. In his twelve years working for the Assembly, Kennedy handled all measures coming before the Natural Resources and Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committees, including the Assembly Bill 32 Cap-and-Trade program, water quality, and forestry and wildfire prevention. Kennedy holds a Juris Doctorate from University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, and is a member of the California State Bar.

Kammerich has served in various policy roles for four California Assembly Members, including two Assembly Republican Leaders, having most recently served as Legislative Director for Assembly Member Chad Mayes (R-Yucca Valley). Kammerich holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science from Fresno Pacific University.
