Ramon F. Miguez Named to Parkland Board of Managers

DALLAS, TX / AGILITYPR.NEWS / August 27, 2020 / Dallas County Commissioner Elba Garcia, DDS, has appointed Ramon F. Miguez to serve on the Parkland Health & Hospital System Board of Managers. Miguez will fill the unexpired term, effective Aug. 20, 2020 and expiring Jan. 31, 2022, created by the resignation of Gonzalo Venegas, MD.


Each member of the Commissioners Court appoints two individuals to serve on the Parkland Board. In addition, the Commissioners Court names one member of the board collectively to serve in an “at-large” position. Board members serve staggered three-year terms, with as near as possible to one-third of the members’ terms expiring each year.




Miguez serves as Vice President and Area Manager of HDR Engineering and is responsible for offices in Dallas, Fort Worth, El Paso, Oklahoma City and Panama. Miguez manages more than 200 professionals involved in the delivery of a broad range of engineering services including planning, roadway, traffic, drainage, water, waste water, structural, environmental, ports and maritime as well as program and construction management. 

 

Miguez served for more than 20 years with the City of Dallas in various leadership positions. His last 14 years he served as Assistant City Manager for the city and was responsible for managing more than 3,200 employees in seven departments including Aviation, Convention and Event Services, Dallas Water Utilities, Sanitation, Public Works and Transportation and Street Services.

 

During his career, Miguez has been responsible for the development and implementation of various bond programs in three cities totaling more than $7 billion in value.

 

In Dallas, he led a number of major initiatives, including the planned modernization of Love Field, US 75 Central Expressway reconstruction, development of the city’s storm water management program, water supply implementation strategies, two expansions of the Dallas Convention Center and the renovation of the Cotton Bowl, among others.

 

In those roles, Miguez was instrumental in educating the residents of Dallas about city projects and initiatives and building consensus for them. He also worked with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), various counties, communities and agencies as well as private sector partners in the North Texas region to accomplish the city’s vision.


Prior to his 20 years with the City of Dallas, Miguez held city leadership roles in both Phoenix and Austin.


Miguez received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Registered Professional Engineer. He is a member of the American Public Works Association, Texas Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, International City and County Management Association and the Society of Hispanic Engineers. He has served on the Board of Directors of the ACEC Dallas, the Trinity Commons Foundation and as Chair of the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce.
