AUSTIN, TX / AGILITYPR.NEWS / August 19, 2025 / Southern Careers Institute Launches Flood Relief Efforts to Support Texas Hill Country Communities
In light of the recent devastating floods that have impacted Texas Hill Country and surrounding areas, Southern Careers Institute (SCI) is proud to announce its continued commitment to helping communities in need through its SCI Cares initiative.
Recognizing that manpower is one of the greatest needs during this time, SCI Cares has introduced a Voluntary Paid Time Off (VPTO) program. This initiative allows employees to take paid time off to volunteer in local flood relief efforts, ensuring hands-on support reaches the communities that need it most.
In addition to volunteering, SCI campuses across Texas have come together to donate essential non-perishable items, including:
On Friday, August 1st, this collective generosity came to life as truckloads of these items were delivered to distribution warehouses. These supplies are now being organized and sent directly to flood-impacted families and individuals.
SCI matched all contributions dollar-for-dollar, doubling the community’s support. By the close of donations on August 15th, $2,905 was raised, resulting in a combined $5,810 donation dedicated to local flood relief efforts.
“We are incredibly proud of our SCI family for stepping up during this time of need,” said Sue Blanche, the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at SCI. “From volunteering time to donating goods and funds, our community continues to embody the values of compassion, service, and unity.”
