SGS Highlights Phased Restrictions on Disposable Food Contact Plastics in Georgia
BAAR, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / August 14, 2026 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 109.26, detailing Georgia’s revised enforcement dates for single-use plastic food containers and cups.
Revisions were made in 2025 to Georgia’s technical regulation on food contact plastics to address the use of disposable plastic food containers and cups for ready-to-eat food supplied by public catering establishments. The original revisions were scheduled to apply from July 1, 2026.
Resolution No. 303 of July 6, 2026, issued on July 7, 2026, updates Resolution No. 304/2022 on food contact plastics by replacing the single implementation date with separate transition dates for the two product categories.
Disposable food contact plastics remain subject to Resolution No. 304/2022, including the requirements for overall migration and specific migration.
