GENEVA, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / February 16, 2022 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is advising stakeholders that Health Canada has issued guidelines relating to the safety requirements under the Consumer Products Containing Lead Regulations (CPCLR), which falls under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA).
Entitled ‘Information for Regulated Parties Regarding the Consumer Products Containing Lead Regulations’, the guidelines were issued in January 2022. It contains several important points that are of relevance to stakeholders. These include:

The CPCLR was published in May 2018 and came into effect in November 2018. It restricts lead content to no more than 90 mg/kg in each accessible part of five categories of consumer goods.
However, each accessible part can contain more than 90 mg/kg lead content provided ALL the following three conditions are met:
