GENEVA, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / January 03, 2024 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 168.23 covering Brazil’s amendment to its metal cookware ordinance.
The Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services and National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology issued an amendment to Ordinance 499/2021 on December 1, 2023. The ‘note’ under Sections 4.1.1.2 and 4.2.1.1 in Annex I are both updated, clarifying that:
Ordinance 499/2021 covers the technical regulations and conformity assessment requirements for metal cookware and includes provisions relating to, inter alia:

These changes should be considered effective on December 1, 2023.
