SGS Summarizes Updates to Türkiye’s Import Control Requirements for Toys and Other Consumer Products

BAAR, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / August 04, 2026 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 102.26, noting updates to Harmonized System (HS) codes and product descriptions for toys and other consumer goods in Türkiye.


Three communiqués were issued on July 11, 2026, by the Turkish Ministry of Trade. These amend import control requirements for toys and other consumer goods through the Risk-Based Control System for Foreign Trade (Dış Ticarette Risk Esaslı Kontrol Sistemi, TAREKS). This electronic system conducts safety and quality inspections of imported goods.


The three communiqués were as follows:

  • Product Safety Inspection: 2026/38, amending the Communiqué on Import Inspection of Toys (Product Safety and Inspection: 2026/10)
  • Product Safety Inspection: 2026/39, revising the Communiqué on Import Inspection of Consumer Products (Product Safety and Inspection: 2026/12)
  • Product Safety Inspection: 2026/40, revising the Communiqué on Import Inspection of Maternity and Baby Products (Product Safety and Inspection: 2026/17)


Stakeholders throughout the supply chain for toys and other consumer products, including manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers operating in Türkiye, may be affected by the amendments contained in these communiqués, which became effective on July 11, 2026.
