SOMERSET / AGILITYPR.NEWS / March 14, 2025 / SOMERSET businesswoman Karen Morledge has been invited to join the advisory board of Passion for Somerset Community Interest Company (CIC), the organisation set up to encourage people living and working in the County to share their passion for it and take pride in all it has to offer.
Founder of her own marketing and PR agency, Morledge & Co., Karen has experience of working with a wide range of businesses across the County and is also on the board of Somerset Chamber of Commerce.
Karen joins the board as it is gearing up for its most important weekend of the year when it celebrates Somerset Day on May 11 - chosen to mark Alfred the Great’s gathering of ‘all the people of Somerset’ to march against the invading Viking army.
This year Somerset Day events will include a Civic Service; the Big Somerset Picnic; eat:Taunton festival and a new two-day Barrel & Bloom Festival of music, food and drink for all ages.
As well as being behind Somerset Day, Passion for Somerset CIC also runs The Pride of Somerset Youth Awards with Bridgwater & Taunton College and Karen has agreed to sponsor one of the awards.
Dedicated to recognising the inspirational efforts and accomplishments of young people from the County, the 2025 Awards will be held at the McMillan Theatre, Bridgwater on Wednesday 21st May with Morledge & Co. sponsoring the art and culture award.
With many generations of her family coming from Somerset and having experience of destination marketing and working with a wide range of businesses throughout the county, Karen says she is delighted and honoured to play an active part in Passion for Somerset.
"I have always been a long-term advocate for Somerset as a wonderful place to live, work, enjoy and do business, so I am delighted to join the board of this fantastic organisation," said Karen. "With an exciting programme of events for Somerset Day, including The Wurzels, it is the perfect time for me to get involved and support its future ambitions."
CEO and Founder of Passion for Somerset, Nigel Muers-Raby, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Karen to our board of willing, able and passionate members who all share a desire to champion our county’s heritage. I am already seeing her expertise in action as we head towards the Pride of Somerset Youth Awards and what will be our 10th Somerset Day.”
