NEW YORK, NY / AGILITYPR.NEWS / December 16, 2021 / New York, NY / December 16, 2021 / Spence-Chapin Services to Families and Children is bringing joy to families in need this holiday season by providing clothing, essentials, and gifts for 150 children through its Holiday Angels program. This special initiative matches Holiday Angel donor families with recipient families and provides them with a wish list of items the recipient family has prioritized, along with children's clothing sizes, favorite interests and colors, and desired toys. These gifts are then hand-wrapped and labeled by the donor and Spence-Chapin staff before being personally delivered to families in time for the holidays.
In response to an overwhelming show of support from donors last year, Spence-Chapin expanded the 2021 Holiday Angels program by partnering with seven new organizations to reach families and children in communities that Spence-Chapin serves through their new satellite offices, including the greater New York City area, upstate New York, and New Jersey. In partnership with Bronx Health Link, Covenant House, Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless, Safe Horizon, South Bronx Healthy Families, Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region, Inc., and the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Health Center, Spence-Chapin donors were able to provide gifts for more than 70 families this year.
"Spence-Chapin provides support for children, women, and families in a myriad of ways throughout the year, but we know that the holidays can be particularly challenging for many families. We are humbled by the generosity seen from our community and feel fortunate to be able to partner with such incredible organizations this year to help even more children and families this holiday season," shared Spence-Chapin Chief Executive Officer Kate Trambitskaya.
Spence-Chapin's Holiday Angels program began as a way to support birth mothers and families the organization serves through its counseling services who were in need of additional support around the holidays. It provided a wonderful way for adoptive families and those connected to adoption to help others in their community. Since its start, the program has grown in size. This year, more than 70 donors contributed to the Holiday Angels program, making it the most successful year yet.
"It was an honor to be selected to participate in the Holiday Angels Program. Our moms and babies really appreciate the outpouring of support we received from kind individuals. It warms our hearts to know there are still giving people in the world thinking of our youths," Aquiyla Johnson, Resident Advisor at Covenant House in Newark, New Jersey, described about participating in the program.
