UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / November 23, 2021 / Spa Experience by Better, owned by Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL), has this month signed up five of it’s largest spas across the UK as Sustainable Spa Association members in a push to improve its sustainability credentials.
The organisation is a charitable social enterprise dedicated to making wellbeing and fitness accessible and affordable, helping members of the communities it serves enjoy better health and happiness.
Having already achieved great success in social sustainability through keeping costs, locations and staffing tailored to a local, community level, the enterprise is now seeking to enhance its environmental offering with more sustainable business practices, processes and decision making.
Melissa Evans, National Spa Manager at Spa Experience, was excited by the membership, saying: “We’re really pleased to be able to sign up five of our biggest spas across the UK as members of the SSA. As a social enterprise, we have a responsibility to our environment, as well as our people, and we’re excited to learn, develop and improve our processes wherever we possibly can.
“We would like to thank Lucy and the SSA for welcoming us into their impressive network of members. However, we know that we can’t stop here, and there is more that we can do to push the boundaries and reduce our environmental impact even further.”
The Sustainable Spa Association is a not-for-profit organisation formed with the purpose to assist spa businesses in implementing successful and profitable, long-term sustainability strategies. They work with spa operators to reduce the environmental impact of their daily spa operations.
Lucy Briarley, Co-Founder of the Sustainable Spa Association, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Spa Experience as a member of our Sustainable Spa Association network. Many businesses want to be more eco-conscious, coupled with consumer demand to spend their time and money ethically.
“Melissa and her team have done a remarkable job at making spas and wellness accessible to everyone and we’re delighted to be able to help them on the next step of their journey to become more sustainable. We guide spas on a facilitated journey to take practical steps towards improving their environmental impact through a range of self-assessment tools, practical advice and education from within and outside the spa world.”
The Sustainable Spa Association is a global network of leading spas with environmental awareness at its core. As a non-profit organisation, it’s dedicated to making positive change within the spa industry; through education, support and accreditation.
