SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Brett Waterman, architectural preservationist and host of the Magnolia Network’s “Restored,” will deliver the keynote address at The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Kickoff on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, at the Bear Springs Event Center in Highland.
“The event marks the official start of the holiday fundraising season for the organization, which provides vital social services to communities throughout the region,” said Major Adam Morales, the San Bernardino Citadel Commander.Doors will open at 5:00 p.m., with the program scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

Waterman, a Redlands resident, is widely known for his work preserving and renovating historic homes throughout Southern California. For more than 30 years, he has applied his hands-on expertise to a wide range of architectural styles, from Victorian mansions to Mid-Century Modern cottages. His show, “Restored,” airs on the Magnolia Network, HGTV, and Warner Bros. Discovery networks.

Waterman’s approach emphasizes honoring a structure's original design while adapting it for modern life, ensuring that architectural history is preserved for future generations. A graduate of UCLA, he is a certified expert in architecture and restoration who is passionate about sharing his knowledge with the public.
Donations from the Red Kettles help provide Christmas holiday food baskets for about 500 local families. On Christmas, a Christmas Dinner is traditionally held, offering a delicious meal to around 200 people.
The Salvation Army of San Bernardino serves the cities of San Bernardino, Redlands, Highland, Rialto, Loma Linda, Colton, Yucaipa, Calimesa, Bloomington, Mentone, Grand Terrace, Muscoy, and Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead, and Running Springs.
The Salvation Army welcomes donations of food, clothing, toys, and money. These can be dropped off at The Salvation Army Hospitality House, located at 925 W. 10th Street, San Bernardino, or at The Salvation Army Citadel office, 838 Alta Street, in Redlands. Brett Waterman is an architectural preservationist and widely known as the host of the popular television show Restored on the Magnolia Network, HGTV, and the Warner Bros. Discovery Networks.
Brett has been restoring historic structures for more than 30 years in Southern California. His unique approach to restoration is rooted in the historical understanding of each property and how the structure was originally designed. Brett’s projects have ranged in style of architecture from Victorian to Mid-Century Modern.
He has a passion and love for all buildings, large and small. He has restored 10,000-square-foot mansions with extensive gardens to 700-square-foot cottages in small towns.
His portfolio of design work demonstrates how any home or building can meet the needs of a modern-day lifestyle without sacrificing architectural integrity. Brett’s preservation goals are to ensure that each home or project is designed and restored to be sustainable and timeless, in hopes that we are saving our architectural history and open spaces for future generations.
Brett lives in Redlands, California, and he has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Preservation
Brett has always had a passion for preservation. As a young man, he saw significant historic buildings being destroyed or left to decay. He found his calling.
Brett has worked on countless projects and with community members to help preserve many of America’s greatest structures.
Restoration
Brett also enjoys getting his hands dirty. With years of expertise and actual hands-on knowledge, Brett not only knows what historic buildings should look like, but he also knows how to return them to physically make that happen.
Brett is truly a master craftsman, and continues to improve his trade skills.

Brett is not just a TV personality – he is a certified expert on architecture, restoration, and preservation.
Although he never intended to be on television, his passion for sharing his knowledge led him to host a number of series where he has been able to enlighten the masses through media over the years. Brett continues to share his passion.
