Team Luke Hope for Minds Raises $123,000 for Children with Brain Injuries Nonprofit Helps Families Answer the Question, “What’s Next After a Brain Injury?”

AUSTIN, TEXAS / AGILITYPR.NEWS / May 08, 2024 / Every nine seconds, an infant, child, teenager, or adult sustains a traumatic brain injury, yet fewer than one in 20 will receive the necessary treatment (Texas Brain Injury Alliance), highlighting the urgency to raise awareness and funds to provide support, resources, and financial assistance to families after a brain injury.

Providing immediate aid to children with acquired brain injuries and their families is a top priority for Team Luke Hope for Minds (TLHFM).

The nonprofit raised $123,000 to support families through its recent Annual Golf Tournament. With 50+ families on the waitlist, the need for support is critical to help these children get the necessary therapies, treatments, equipment, etc.

“Supporting Team Luke Hope for Minds is profoundly important to me,” said Presenting Sponsor Dr. Brandon Crawford. “The work they do in helping families cope with neurological challenges aligns with my own mission to provide compassionate and effective care. As a sponsor, I’m not just contributing resources, but also joining a community that believes in hope and practical help for those in critical need.”

In addition to providing financial assistance, TLHFM offers guidance, resources and virtual support groups for parents, siblings and brain injury survivors. The newest support group, Ambiguous Grief Support, provides coping strategies to help parents understand and work through the grief of losing the child they knew before his/her accident. The nonprofit will hold a Pediatric Brain Injury Conference & Resource Fair for families and their children Oct. 25-26 in Austin.

“More and more families are seeking help navigating a new life and coping with the fact that their child is forever changed, and has new and sometimes ever-growing needs,” said Ronda Johnson, Senior Director of Family Services. “Our community groups empower caregivers with knowledge and connections to others on the same journey.”

“For over a decade, our golf tournament has been a success, uniting passionate golfers, compassionate sponsors, and devoted volunteers in a collective journey to make a meaningful impact through essential resources, therapies, and programs that bring hope and support to countless lives,” Johnson said.
