SALT LAKE CITY, UT / AGILITYPR.NEWS / December 07, 2020 / Annelyn Sanchez is giving you public safety at your fingertips
Annelyn Sanchez, the enterprising mom behind the Tipster app is a former real estate businesswoman turned philanthropist in Salt Lake City. After 8 years in the real estate industry, Annelyn gave up her career as a realtor about four years ago and opened a clinic that specializes in helping people recover after an auto accident.
The much-anticipated app was launched today and is now available in the Google Play and Apple store. It has launched in 57 major cities across the nation: the most populated city in each state, Washington DC, and the three most populated cities in Texas, California, and Florida.
The idea to create Tipster sparked in 2018, when a shooting incident outside her clinic involving a 3-year old child inspired her to push her personal boundaries and think outside the box.
The app is free and designed to provide real-time, relevant, and reliable public safety tips, resources, news, and alerts at your fingertips. This information is sourced from your city, county, state, and federal public safety departments.
Tipster also helps inform yourself and others about available resources through professionally researched tips on a variety of public safety topics. These topics, ranging from human sex trafficking, suicide prevention, and earthquake safety, cover 6 categories: violent crime, other crime, safety, health, mental health, and basic needs. This in turn helps to free-up police resources to focus on more urgent issues at hand.
The news feed and tips will also be provided in Spanish. The plan is to add more languages in the future to ensure it can be used by even more citizens.
When asked why Tipster, Sanchez said, “We are drowning in mass media communication and we are not consuming the same information, together. Our media intake is fragmented and often filled with false or divisive content intended to push our emotional buttons. What is popular online or on social media, isn’t necessarily what is important or relevant.”
“I am pleased that Tipster’s mission to connect, inform and unite citizens and communities, is on its way to being accomplished. I believe this could only be achieved if we are all seeing the same information, at the same time regarding our public safety. Credible information will help to build trust and respect again,” added Sanchez.
Sanchez is very clear that she does not want this invention to be politicized. All she wants is to empower communities to help themselves when it comes to their safety.
“What’s great about the app is that you will be able to choose the newsfeed you want to receive based on locations important to you such as your children’s school, place of work, your home, or current geo-location if allowed,” said Sanchez.
“Tipster provides direct communication between public safety departments and our communities, thus filling a gap that is greatly needed to connect, inform, and unite our nation,” said retired Chief Scott Edson, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
You don’t want to be the only one in your community not connected! Information and updates will be in real-time, relevant, and reliable. You won’t want to miss a day of content!
So, join today for a safer tomorrow. #SAFERNATION.
