UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / October 19, 2020 / The Luna Cinema, the UK’s leading outdoor cinema company, is bringing tidings of comfort and joy this Christmas to Birmingham, having extended its hugely successful 2020 drive in season to launch The Luna Drive In Winter Cinema- the Ultimate Festive Film Experience.
After a frosty year, we’re all in need of a merry Christmas and what better way to feel the Yuletide magic than to cosy up and enjoy iconic Christmas classics on the big screen with friends and family? Following the incredible success of The Luna Drive In Cinema which launched this summer in response to the global pandemic, and its Halloween offering this autumn, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas as film fans can continue to enjoy the return to the big screen this December. Whilst beloved pantos, grottos and Christmas markets may unfortunately not be going ahead, The Luna Drive In Winter Cinema is keeping the Christmas spirt alive, giving film lovers a festive treat from the safety and warmth of their cars.
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year and The Luna Drive In Winter Cinema will be bringing that Christmas cheer to the NEC.
This Christmas extravaganza gives film fans a chance to enjoy classic festive favourites such as Love Actually, Home Alone, It's A Wonderful Life, The Holiday and Elf, as well as the Disney box office hit, Frozen 2.
With delicious festive treats also on offer, as well as socially-distanced parking, remote order and state-of-the-art sound and visuals, including Luna’s brand-new in car wireless sound solution, it promises to be the perfect Christmas outing for all ages.
Bringing drive in into the 21st century, the Luna team have developed a bespoke sound system, the only one of its kind in the UK, that means each car has its own personal wireless speaker so viewers can hear the film in amazing cinematic quality digital sound, without any distractions. This technology will mean there is no need to have the car radio running and risk draining the battery. Traditional ticket scanning has been done away with, and instead licence plate recognition cameras record your arrival and permit entry. There will also be a fantastic selection of Christmas- themed food and drink items available either as a pre-order with tickets, or ordered from the car on the night using a smart phone, with staff speedily delivering orders on scooters!
George Wood, founder of The Luna Cinema, said: “For me Christmas has always been about coming together with your loved ones to celebrate and classic Christmas film has always been a huge part of that. Nothing puts you in the Festive spirit more than your favourite movie – I know each year I always say I don’t feel it’s Christmas until I’ve watched “Home Alone”! In a year where many of us have been apart, we need the collective feeling that Christmas creates more than ever before, and we think we’ve come up with the perfect solution. The response to the launch of The Luna Drive In Cinema has been incredible and so it was obvious to us to extend it for the festive period. Whilst Christmas might be a little different this year, the feeling our line-up of festive classics, new and old, brings remains unchanged. We’ve also managed to make every aspect of the experience fully compliant with social distancing from start to finish, and if the weather outside is looking frightful, there is no need to worry as you can relax and cosy up in your cars.”
Richard Mann, market development director of the NEC, commented: “The Luna Drive In Winter Cinema offers a fantastic series of Christmas themed movie nights, which we are really pleased to be welcoming to the NEC this festive season. The cinema operation is highly impressive, and our facilities provide the ideal platform required for everyone to relax and enjoy their evening out in safety this winter. We look forward to welcoming visitors to the venue in December and sharing the Christmas spirit that these events promise to bring.”
