COYS latest classic car auction on Saturday October 19th will feature cars from the world of TV, Rock and Roll and Politics.
The auction will be held at Syon Park, Chiswick, London which has long been associated with the classic car with auctions and concours d’elegances being held in the grounds of this stately home on the banks of the River Thames.
Starting at at 2PM, it will feature a fabulous selection of established classics and modern, soon to be collectible cars.
Feature cars include a 1984 Lotus Esprit S3, which is a star of numerous television programs including BBC Antiques Roadshow, where it was featured alongside actress Claire Sweeney, a Jaguar XJ12C, the same type of car driven by secret agent legend John Steed in The New Avengers, a Maserati purchased new by Rocket Man Sir Elton John, a LaFayette saloon delivered new to part of the Roosevelt family – as in US President Teddy Roosevelt, the world’s first teddy bear and inventor of the phrase, and a McLaren MP4, one of the rarest cars in the auction as only a handful of these cars were delivered new to the UK.
Other features include a stunning Ferrari 246 GT Dino, and the Austin-Healey racing car of the US racing legend Lester Seasongood, its amazing racing history in America hidden for years and only recently discovered, as well as the second to last Aston Martin ever built by the company under the swashbuckling stewardship of Victor Gauntlet before it was purchased by Ford…. The last true Aston?
Over 60 of the highest quality classics will be offered at the sale at Syon Park, with many private owners looking now to sell to take advantage of the weak value of Sterling by selling their car to a hungry international marketplace.
Coys auction specialist Charlie Howarth says “A great British classic car auction, set against the backdrop of one of Britain’s stately homes and parks is a fabulous combination, and we are delighted to be back at Syon Park. The classic car market has been adjusting to the current times and climate, with sensible private owners with sensible market reserves being the ones walking away with a deal at the moment, and this is definitely the shape of things to come.”
Howarth continues “with the new price regime rapidly falling into place, this will invigorate what has been a bloated and complacent marketplace, and as an auction house we are excited about that. We have some great cars with great stories in a great location to sell on Saturday 19th, and with complimentary entry to this beautiful parkland scene and ample catering facilities, we are looking forward to a full house.”
