Thousands atttend Mk2 Birthday Party

Thousands attend MK 2 Birthday party in Bridgnorth to celebrate the Jaguar Mk2’s 60th birthday.

Thousands of people turned up to celebrate the 60th birthday of the famous Jaguar Mk 2 on Saturday June 1st at Classic Motor Cars (CMC) in Bridgnorth

And more than 70 of the famous cars attended from all over the country, many of them taking part in a special concours.

Nigel Woodward, Managing Director of CMC said: “ We have restored many Mark 2’s since Classic Motor Cars was established more than 25 years ago, and we wanted to celebrate the birthday in the best way possible.”

He added: ““This is the second time that CMC has organised an event of this scale here at our headquarters in Bridgnorth. The day turned out to be an unprecedented success with tremendous participation not only from Mark 2 owners but also from the owners of a huge variety of other classics, from Porsches to a Model T Ford”.

“I would like to thank the huge numbers of the general public who attended and everyone who donated to our featured charity, Hope House, for who we collectively raised over twelve hundred pounds.

“I am grateful to Grainger and Worrall who very kindly helped sponsor the event and Duckhams oils who helped with some of the Concours prizes. Also the numerous food and drink vendors  who helped support and the toy and memorabilia sellers, all of whom helped make sure that there was something for everyone to enjoy”

Nigel said: “We were very encouraged by the tremendous levels of attendance and it has certainly made us even more enthusiastic to carry on holding similar events in the future”.

The Mk 2’s were backed up by more than 50 other classics and CMC produced a limited edition pin badge and poster to mark the birthday along with a special Mk 2 beer brewed by local Brewery Hobsons
