STORY
Supply chains will not survive unless they meet the changing demands of the customer. That was the message from the global trade and logistics giant DP World, which believes that the new-world demands coming from consumers and retailers is driving change amongst cargo owners, which is forcing them to look at more creative options for transporting goods.
The call came during the company’s annual Global Freight Summit, which saw 10,000 logistics professionals discuss concrete actionable solutions to the major challenges affecting global trade. During the Summit businesses were urged to innovate, offer a ’hyper-personalised’ approach to customer demands and partner with firms who can deliver those solutions to build resilience at a time of global uncertainty.
Leaders also underlined the importance of technology in building supply chain resilience to navigate the road ahead. By 2030, the market for AI in supply chains is expected to reach $41.23 billion, driven by the need for improved efficiency and the ability to manage complex logistics operations. Experts highlighted the role of AI to drive positive change, enabling time reductions, cost savings and reducing risks across the whole operation.
