Unite the union will tomorrow (Thursday 7 February) attend a Partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE) event in Dundee to assist McGill Electrical workers facing unemployment.
Last Friday (1 February), McGill's went into administration affecting over 450 workers and apprentices. McGill’s Electricalcarried out work on commercial, residential, healthcare and education projects in the construction sector.
Unite will be providing employment and legal advice at the PACE event,and is encouraging McGill workers to attend between 12noon - 5pm at the Apex City Quay Hotel, 1 West Victoria Dock Road, Dundee, DD1 3JP.
George Ramsay, Unite regional industrial officer, said: “After the devastating news last week that McGill’s were in administration, Unite pledged to do all we can to assist the workers. So, we are encouraging every worker and apprentice affected by the announcement to attend the PACE event in Dundee to speak with Unite representatives in partnership with Mears Group regarding potential re-employment. We will be ensuring that employees and staff are fully aware of their rights, and that those who may have a legal case are assisted in completing their paperwork.”
