Wellspring Provides its Cancer Support Centre to Serve as a Central Hub for the New Mobile Health Unit at Sunnybrook.

Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation has provided Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre with Westerkirk House's use to serve as a hub for staff and engineers working in the new Mobile Health Unit over the coming year.

Westerkirk House, situated on the grounds of Sunnybrook, provides supportive care programs and services to people living with cancer and their caregivers. The pandemic forced the closure of the centre to in-person programming, and its proximity to the new Mobile Health Unit location meant it was an ideal space to serve the temporary need.

"We are only too happy to do all we can to support front-line workers during these challenging times," said Christina Smith, CEO, Wellspring. "Our programs and services are currently being provided online until it is safe to reopen our centres to our patients and families, so allowing Sunnybrook the use our facility in the meantime is just the right thing to do. We have the full support of our patients, donors and stakeholders."

Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation is a network of community-based cancer support centres offering professionally-led programs and services that meet the emotional, social, practical, informational and physical/functional needs of people living with cancer and those who care for them. All Wellspring programs and services are available at no cost and without medical referral. www.wellspring.ca
