Gemma and Victoria Cooke from Wickham Bishops, Essex are running 100km across the lockdown period and in their daily exercise hour. The two are hoping to raise over £1000 for Farleigh Hospice; a local charity that needs continued support through these difficult times.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Farleigh Hospice has had to postpone many fundraising initiatives including, a Friends of Farleigh Luncheon and their much loved Open Gardens event, due to take place throughout Spring and Summer.

The sisters, who have little running experience, have already been hitting the roads and woodlands surrounding Wickham Bishops and Totham, with the aim to achieve their 100km goal within the next three weeks.

Gemma Cooke says: “Victoria and I are both incredibly grateful for all the work that every doctor, nurse and care worker is doing right now, but we also understand that there is an incredible strain on charities who rely on fundraising events to keep their wheels turning. Therefore, my sister and I have decided to take on this challenge and support a local charity that is very close to our family.’’

Farleigh Hospice provides care to people affected by life-limiting illnesses across Essex. They have a wonderful team of healthcare professionals who have evolved to meet the changing needs of the community. They specialise in providing care for server illnesses including, cancer, neurological diseases, and chronic heart, lung, and renal diseases, both in their Inpatient Unit and home environments.
