UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / October 16, 2020 / Physically distanced, arena scale, free-roam, VR zombie battles coming to Utilita Arena Birmingham
meetspaceVR is bringing Zero Latency, the global leader in arena scale, free-roam, multiplayer virtual reality gaming to Utilita Arena Birmingham, just in time for the school holidays and Halloween.
Founded in 2014 in Australia, Zero Latency is the pioneer in warehouse scale, free-roam, multiplayer virtual reality entertainment. Today it operates from 45 venues in 22 countries across 4 continents, with over 1,000,000 games played to date. Free-roam virtual reality (FRVR) represents the next level in social entertainment, allowing players to explore virtual worlds together whilst being physically distanced in real life.
meetspaceVR is bringing Zero Latency’s advanced platform to Birmingham following blowing the minds of players in Nottingham and Wembley. This is not your usual VR experience. Free roam immersive gaming allows up to eight players (currently limited to 6 as per COVID guidelines) at a time to take on a variety of epic virtual challenges, including battling armies of zombies, droids and drones.
Andrew Cole, revenue development director for the NEC Group, said: “meetspaceVR is a brand that provides a safe and exhilarating escape from the everyday stress and strains that families currently find themselves facing. It’s a pleasure to support an international brand within our estate to deliver an experience that is truly game changing. We’re hugely excited to welcome meetspaceVR and their best of breed VR experiences, like Zero Latency, to Birmingham.”
John Lilley, Chief Executive Officer for meetspaceVR, said: “We have pushed through some uncertain times but we are now ready to rock and roll in Birmingham. Our experiences are physically distanced by design. We are an incredible experience for families and their support bubbles desperate to find something to break the day to day stresses we all now face. Over 65,000 players across the UK have been able to feel the difference free roam VR makes to an immersive experience.
“We can’t wait to see Birmingham scream, yell and cheer as they take on the zombie hoards! This is VR technology with a calorie count, what I call vSports. VR technology evolves quickly and meetspaceVR is committed to bring the best in breed experiences together all under one roof. Utilita Arena Birmingham is the perfect setting because of its excellent location and wide appeal as a go-to destination for millions of people every year. It may take a little time to come back to full strength but in the meantime we are ready to put on a show.”
